Ulrich Tendera
Born in Wiesenfeld, Germany, Ulrich Tendera began his distinguished career with W. Goebel Porzellanfabrik at the age of 17 when he began an apprenticeship as a Ceramic Painter. He continued at Goebel working in various departments where he learned the skill and expertise involved in the decoration of M.I. Hummel® figurines.
After successfully mastering the exceptional skill of a painter, Tendera remained in this department until 1979. After a year off for military service, Tendera rejoined the company in 1981 where he began training in the whiteware quality control area. In just five short years, Tendera was entrusted with the position of the head of quality control for the whiteware department.
As is often the case with Goebel workers, Tendera followed in the footsteps of several family members - his mother and two aunts worked in the whiteware department at Goebel. In the 25 years he has been with Goebel, Tendera has held various positions leading up to his current post as the most senior individual in the production department - a responsibility well earned!
Tendera has been traveling for Goebel and participating in painting promotions in Europe, the Far East and the United States, throughout his career. His knowledge, enthusiasm and love of M.I. Hummel figurines make him a sought after guest at local retailers in the U.S. and Canada as well as on broadcast television! Tendera's passion for art is only surpassed by his first love -cinema. He also writes short stories and poems and his hobbies include reading and cooking.
